Today we started in the kitchen. We chopped onions, green peppers and yellow peppers for the first quarter of the day, practising our knife skills. I almost cut my finger off. But practise makes perfect, right?
After chopping we started making bread sticks, rolling the dow into small reaps and smearing them with egg and butter, sprinkling poppy seeds over them, going into the oven for 10 to 15 mins.
after lunch we sliced a million lemons in half and squished all the juice out for lemon essence and boiled the peels. Not sure yet what we will be doing with the peals?????
will let you know soon.....

Done with Accomodation services!
I must admit, the past three weeks flew by! i had a ball..............
it was nothing like Reception. You virtually do no customer service unless you work on Fridays. then you walk to each guests house from half past five to 7 o'clock. The cleaning was awesome, i got used to it so fast. We were a great team. Each morning we were assigned to a chalet or multiple and afterwards we did theory, depending on how far we got with the cleaning. I got to go to the store room one day as well and saw how they delegate each cleaner and which stock they were given each day. EVERYTHING is so well organised.....
I learned:
# the correct chemicals for cleaning
# How to Make a bed professionally. (...... not like i make my own bed :)....... )
# How to dust properly
# how to control stock
# how to Davide chemicals amongst staff of over a hundred ladies
# how to spring clean a house!!!!!
# how too work in a team ; )
# how to welcom Geusts and report problems to supervisor.
#how to report lost or found property
# Most of all i learned how all the departments flow into each other.

Accomodation services
We have finally moved on to our next course (housekeeping services).....
Day 1 - 03/05/2011
We arrived at our new section at 07:30 sharp. our new supervisor explained all the procedures of cleaning chalets and customer care.We all got a short tour of the *behind the sceens* look at laundry services. we all had a try at the huge ironing mechine. it was fun but its freeking hot inside!Afterwards we left to go to a chalet to observe how the profesionals cleaned and also help out a bit. i learned how to really clean from Liesbeth. it was quite the RUDE AWAKENING.........
Day2 - 04/05/2011
After a cup of coffee our group split up. Myself and co-student Bronwyn got assigned to three chalets. the one chalet had to be dusted. which entails a sweeping, mopping, dusting of furniture and minimal polish for better results. the second chalet had to be spring cleaned.we enjoyed it so much. a spring clean includes dusting of the roof and atop cubourds, sweeping, mopping, washing the walls, changing the linnens and towels, polishing all the furniture (including lamps etc.)cleaning out the kettel/fridge/microwave and airing out the entire chalet. sprinkling airfreshner when your done. then you have to spray down the outside veranda and rake away all the leaves close by. arriving at the third chalet, there were already people assisting in the springcleaning and also doing a *all window wash* around the chalets. we basically only changed sheets and towels and sweeped + mopped. the enviorment is much more relaxed than Reception services. i enjoy accomodation much more due to the fact that there is no conflict or personality clashes. Yust as long as you do your part in the cleaning (which i love)
Day 3 - 05/05/2011
Myself, Bronwyn and Monique was assigned to a VIP arrival's Private lodge. we conducted a intence sprinclean which included a dusting of all cupbourds, any food packets, tins, bags or surfaces. It also included a polishing (only Mr min alowed) of all the wooden surfaces (keep in mind it has a bush veld theme = alot of wood surfaces) and Decratory masks or decor, books, shelves, chairs, tabels, small objects. we also had to climb onto the kitchen roof to vacuum all dust particals and wipe clean with wet cloths. all while listening to awsome music.... it was fun. I learned that there goes alot of effort into cleaning a VIP arrival's house. (who has spesifications of how every thing must look)
Day 4 - 06/05/2011
Today we didnt get assigned to any houses or chalets but got a huge tash to finish about safety Hazzards..... will post some pictures shortly to give you a general idea of a safety hazard in housekeeping services & at laundry services....
